Whilst working on a film project in college, our group needed some basic bed music, not too loud, not too quiet, to use underneath a PSA we were creating for the food bank. A short time with the midi-keyboard and reason and our problems were solved. I’ll never forget how ‘easy’ I felt it was using a real keyboard (I’m a programmer/pad banger, never really record with a piano-style keyboard).

I remember doing this one just out of love for 909’s and Rhodes pianos. I cannot recall exactly if I had this connected to some sort of knob box (all I had at the time were ones I had made), or if I just did it old school style and recorded each parameter tweak during each run through of the song.
Think I passed this one out quite a bit though on mix tapes, etc.

Bootleg / mashup time. I’ve been a huge Lusine fan for a while, and his records and cds randomly pop up from time to time in various record stores around the world. This was my favorite track off the album, and the whole concept of the bootleg mix was still pretty rampant (this was right after the Grey album, which is in all seriousness way more than a ‘mashup’). Not having too many a cappella’s to work with, I just jammed some MJ…can’t go wrong.
Pretty sure I made this strictly in Cool Edit Pro, which means a lot of changing speed of portions, editing where it goes out of sync. Lot of cut and paste.

Ok yea this one’s not too interesting composition wise, it’s just a loop for a minute and a half of a Jan Birkin song “Jane B”. The idea was to give some fledgling mc some beats to work with. I’ve got a bunch more of these cause ol’ P-Nutz fancies himself a wee bit of a rapper.
This is ripped straight from the original 45 though – *cred* (thanks mom, it was her record).

This unfinished music salvaged from a dying computer. Well, not really dying, just old, and actually pretty functional (my 2000 tower). This is a random track made during sometime in college – I’m dating it anywhere between 2001 and 2004. I’m pretty sure I made this to show someone else some Buzz sample-chopping techniques. This one keeps with the recent jungle theme, and I’m pretty sure I reworked some of the same organ/piano samples from Organiform.
Music produced entirely in Buzz.
