Rad bych s tebou tancil.
Believe it or not, when I was working as a DJ, I was making mixes like crazy.
I made this mix to kind of sum up my nights at Tulip Cafe. I was working the 9pm to 7am shift which means you play a lot of damn music and you cover every genre imaginable. The waitress there Monika was always really cool and really dug the music – made my drinks real strong. My buddy Pavel was also a big fan of what we were doing, so this mix was like my thank you to them.
Pavel, see you soon.
Monika, where are you?
And if all goes according to plan (o’Hare!!!!), I should be in this mixes homeland as it’s being posted.
Více Basu!
Includes hits from, but not limited to:
Warren G
Yahel
Sasha
Reflekt
1.8.7. / Jordana
Motorcycle
etc, etc…

This one was a birthday present to my main man Mr. Koral North. Mixed using the same setup (Vestax PMC 05 Pro – II fed by single turntable vinyl controlled DjDecks).
This one is all hip-hop and stuff that fits at that tempo (Four Tet is not the most gangster thing in the world). It’s dark and banging, taking the thematic elements from BU002 logically further. I really enjoyed making this and I got to holler at my boy Cody NuNu for keeping this spirit alive.
And a younger, scratch-initiating Noggin on the cuts (thanks Dirtstyle Shampoo breaks).
Includes hits from, but not limited to:
Method Man
Prince Paul
Murs + Slug
Dalek
Geto Boyz
Bone Thugs
etc, etc…

This one manifested as the outro to the third installment of my Work In Progress mixes, toward the end of April 2005. I was developing a style I call noise sculpting, and while this one only scratches the surface, it worked as a practice in restraint. This is a good one to play when you’ve got the family all together, like around a campfire, or on roadtrips.
I did not record the source material, and if you know where it came from, please let me know.
Happy birfday America.

Title: I Swear to you my friend it will be alright
Artist: Noggin

This one comes up today because it has vocals from my own dad, El Medico / Dirty Knife. So happy Father’s day. He will probably dislike this song because he is not a fan of “rap music”. Well, I’m sorry pops, but if you can label anything a bit more adventurous than the Mormon Tabernacle Choir as “rap music”, then yea, we’ve got a long way to go.
I wrote this song for a very good friend of mine who was just having a bit of an existential crisis. I can’t remember the details but it’s likely because the details don’t matter, it was the overall feeling I was concerned with at the time, and I hope that my feeble attempt to lend a hand through resonances is remembered for nothing more than the crux feeling it was expressing. For as terrible as the internet can be, the ability to collaborate musically with each other, he in San Marcos, me in Praha, was really a blessing.
Here’s to new fathers.

Posting this one because I know that I wrote it entirely on this date in 2005. This is combination live drum synth with the ER-1, absolute amen mayhem with buzz, and custom scratching with a final scratch record controlling some candidly recorded audio files via dj decks. Car on the vocals.

Recorded as a letter home to my parents while I was living in Praha, Czech republic. Inspired by the version from Bobby Horton, this is my playing of ‘the most beautiful song ever written’.
Thanks to Thoams for the microphone, which worked pretty well, and luckily, the computer fan only started buzzing right at the tail end of this thing.

Produced mainly using Buzz, but includes synth pad and solo sounds from the Roland SH-32. Also record scratches courtesy Dirtstyle Deluxe Shampoo Edition break record.
I made this track when I first moved to Austin. I had a pretty huge, pretty empty apartment to myself. I’m talking EMPTY – turntables, salvaged mattress + pillows (these were my alternative to a couch), and some kitchen-ware. This song came out of a low-lit evening there, surrounded by the embedded smell of curry.
