Here’s some very Noggin-in-college, hifi Buuzage in a trip hop stylee. Listening back to this, I actually realise it came out right when I was getting into really being able to wield Buzz well, and put a lot of different technique into it.
I dare you to spot the Backstreet Boys sample.
Come and get me.

Sorta skittery tracker funk with a healthy dose of fft blast on the drums. Oh yea and a gritty 303 + vocals.

Had a lot of fun going into the TAMU recording studio with Ilya to lay this one down. I had made some drum beats and we brought those in, played em as backing tracks, then he jammed the wurly while I played the guitar. We had a great time.
A few months later, here was my remix.
I’ve got all the tracks + his version somewhere, but Ilya, if yer out there and you aint crashed em, hit me up with yer version!

After hiding all the barn animals in the ‘remix’ of Round-Up, I decided to just blast yall with where I was coming from, in a decidedly casio fashion.
Here’s the ‘original mix’ which came as a remix the day after the original release of Round-Up.

This one was all about the drums and breaking out of any sort of genre that might have tried to encapsulate me in 2002. Its heavy on the melody and heavy on the bit of bounce. Its weird and its funky and damn I like it more now than I even did then, I think. Also managed to pull every tracker technique out the book on this one.
dig it.
Shout out to Arguru.

From the ‘wreckage’ ep, which is just a few buzz bouncedowns from a couple volatile tracks that actually managed to open during some reinstall of buzz.
Its glitchy and its cute.

Noggin – Round Up (Dosie Do mix)

Artist: Noggin
Title: Round Up (Dosie-Do mix)
Album: As Yet Unknown
Date: 2000
Part 1

This track was originally released 11 years ago today.
ScottyP and myself had been wanting to do a collaboration, and I got this about halfway there when I sent it to him for his side of the story. I can’t remember what his exact reaction was, but it was like, ‘I’m not touching that with a ten foot pole’. Let’s just say I took this one to the edge and then tossed the corpse over with a string tied to it and my own ankle.
If you like your house dark, slamming, and garage style, you’ll dig this.
And do stick around for the breakdown courtesy of some Carolina folk down on Cripple Creek.

Glitchtacular melodiousism rampant right here.
It’s hi-fi buzzage, with a definite downtempo tip. The beat out of this one went on to bigger and better things…and it’s just on the tip of my tongue right now what those things were.
originally called ‘gichee.bmx’.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, the Phase album (my first CD – not first album) is complete. This is the first track which I intended to pretty much set the stage for how I felt about the state of music at the time. In highschool, kids were so caught up in ‘techno’ being ‘video game music’ and ‘fake’ and blah blah ignorant ignorant drivel. I wanted this track to make all those @$$holes feel like they were totally right.
The song title is a direct homage to an absolute CLASSIC Buzz track by Low Occurence, titled ‘How to kill the cliche’.

Cruisin along the edge of the cheese escarpment, I bring to you a pretty Buzz-standard trackerised happy song. Well its not so much ‘happy’ song as it is ‘content song’.
It was originally called ‘newbassfix’ which kind of reminds me that I was experimenting a lot with bass around this time (thanks new sub). Not sure what’s new about it, but there you go.
It’s all buzz. Just being bored in my dorm.
