The funny thing about this mix is that I started trying to figure out a formula I could use to quickly resample songs so they would mix together, because I wanted to make mixes fast, programmatically. I sort of started guessing (educated guesses you could say) what the formula would look like, and actually got pretty close on the first go…though I was able to refine the formula to make it more universal.

Anyway so I made this mix in Audacity using some new flacs I had ripped from vinyl and my newly discovered formula for beatmatching.

A week later Audacity released a new version that included the ability to do this formula built-in. I thought that was pretty cool.

This mix includes hits from, but not limited to:
Dub Taylor
James Blake (thanks Kyle)
The Rip-Off Artist
Heiroglyphic Being
etc, etc…

Groovesday 05 June 2013 – About That Time

This is my last solo Groovesday for a while. We keep it all over the place just trying to push every button I can before I step out that door down that old dusty. The AC is broken in the station so this is literally the sweatiest show I’ve ever done as well – wonder if that comes through to yall?
Gets rolling on the jungle tip then cruises into familiar four to floor and finally all-bets-off territory. Even hit that requested Euro flavor.
This weeks show includes hits from, but not limited to:
Adnan Marquez-Borbon
Sun Ra
Dawn Penn / Bounty Hunter
Sak Noel
Caustic Window
etc, etc…

morning groove

Morning Groove 31 May 2013

Show this morning includes poetry mixed with snooze button sounds, some more live (even requested) performance, and some fairly epic, long-playing tracks.
This is the last Morning Groove I will do at the KEOS Bell Studios. Its been a blast bringing yall the jams so early in the morning. Really what I consider church, and the best way to start a weekend I could ever think of – get up before everybody else and start getting those fingers dirty spinning wax.
Had some nice company for much of the show and so all props to Greg and Chuck. Chuck especially as he sort of took on the roll of resident kolache technician.
So much thanks to Jason for making the trip so regularly and sharing his incredible taste in choice vinyl with the Brazos Valley.
Much love to Branton and all the folk at the Aggieland Humane Society for everything they do, and their devotion to getting the word out about their organisation and what they do to help.
Props to everyone who listened regularly, sporadically, or caught the archives later on.
So so so much love to those who called in just to say what up and/or make a request.
Sincerely, thank yall for listening.
This weeks show includes hits from, but not limited to:
Boards of Canada
Here We Go Magic
Joy Division
Getz / Gilberto
Serge Gainsbourg
etc, etc…

Kindly Keep It Country 25 May 2013

You could consider this kind of a ‘best of’ kkic show, as I’m not sure when I’ll do another one.
Lots of good requests, tons of love, a live rendition of Townes, and a solemn prayer for those on the road.
Thank yall for listening.

Thank yall for listening.

Full Daft

For this very special edition of Groovesday / Groovesday presents, we take you on a trip to Paris and around the world, visiting the many sides of Daft Punk, etc. The new album dropped today, so what better timing to focus the lens on some artists who have had such a huge impact on our lives. I think I speak for Dag-Nab-It as well when I say, Homework was what made me fall in love with house music.
This weeks show includes hits from, but not limited to:
Daft Punk
Thomas Bangalter
LCD Soundsystem
Busta Rhymes
etc, etc…

Morning Groove 17 May 2013

Another mildly mellow show, even though we do manage to drop in some newish Wayne Hancock that keeps us going with a bit of diesel in our veins. Also more vocal stuff, even if we do start out instrumentally sedated. I hope yall realise how this is my church.
Oh yea and bust out those samplers on the Mel Tillis track.
This weeks show includes hits from, but not limited to:
Chris Catalena
Tom T. Hall
ZZ Top
Les Paul and Mary Ford

Morning Groove 03 May 2013

Very special Down Under Take Over edition of the Morning Groove this am, as I hand the controls to the lovely DJ Touche and DJ G’Day. These Southern Belles hail from New Zealand and Australia respectively, and came into town to hear what all the hoopla in Bryan is all about. Not to mention check out the fabled community radio station that is our very own KEOS.
So with a lot of love and work from the night before, we skirt through a personal selection from their own lives and locales. Big ups to DJ G’Day herself who makes an appearance on vocals.
This weeks show includes hits from, but not limited to:
Liam Finn
Black Ryder
The Body Lyre
Cash Savage
Little Desert
etc, etc…
