Finely wrapping up the GaGeAsSeBr release…
This one was kind of a slap in the face to every thing I thought I knew. I wanted to take production in a very conscious different direction, and of course keep it loop-based so I could pull it off live. The live shows never happened, as I made the GaGeAsSeBr tracks in a bout a week or a month or some other sort of ADD timeline and moved on. Big synths (as big as I could get out of Buzz at the time)…these pieces are like little love-letters to Buzz itself.
The radio will return folks – this project might be coming to a close but I aint giving up the Morning Groove.

A C I D

Happy Birthday Charlie. I wrote this song for Charlie cause he was like a huge reason I got into this music in the first place. He needed a theme song and we were both brought up on high-energy and psuedo acid/rave sounds out of Europe. As such, this is the most dj-friendly tune I’ve ever done, I think. The casual listener might be a little put-off by the twelve-inch-ness of it, buildups and whatnot, but to my dear fellow DJs, please take this one and run with it.
All Buzz.
Did I mention acid?

I mean I really went crazy with Buzz…I have to admit that the high amount of output when that was my main (only) production tool is part of the reason I started this whole blog.
This is me trying out synths a lot more, well trying to tweak them to what I wanted at least KNOWING a little about what I was tweaking was doing.
Its psy, its acid, its breaks, big beat, whatever you want to call it. Got a bit of mid-career Orbital energy in it (a constant inspiration).

Here’s some very Noggin-in-college, hifi Buuzage in a trip hop stylee. Listening back to this, I actually realise it came out right when I was getting into really being able to wield Buzz well, and put a lot of different technique into it.
I dare you to spot the Backstreet Boys sample.
Come and get me.

Sorta skittery tracker funk with a healthy dose of fft blast on the drums. Oh yea and a gritty 303 + vocals.

Cruisin along the edge of the cheese escarpment, I bring to you a pretty Buzz-standard trackerised happy song. Well its not so much ‘happy’ song as it is ‘content song’.
It was originally called ‘newbassfix’ which kind of reminds me that I was experimenting a lot with bass around this time (thanks new sub). Not sure what’s new about it, but there you go.
It’s all buzz. Just being bored in my dorm.

Man, I really felt like RDJ when this popped out.
It sounds like it’s on the verge of a minimal analog breakdown, but of course it’s all buzz and its more of a break up, as it just leaves you hanging.

I remember this one birthed itself rather quickly, and I was extremely pleased with the quality of sounds coming out of our favorite tracker. I called it unfinished for so long, cause it just felt so cool I didn’t want it to end, but maybe the extended version I’ll leave up to you, dear remixer.
It’s going back to the industrial roots a little bit, but god forbid there is a bit of backwards acoustic guitar which I think keeps it firmly planted outside the realm of industrial.

Here’s yet another example of vision quest via buzz tunage. Pretty much knew exactly where this one was gonna go when it came out. I remember this coming from really appreciating the sunshine while walking up to jck. Kind of idm-proto-house, longing for an emu sampler.
A classic favorite.

Another personal favorite here, Noggin takes it a bit deep and minimal after a decidedly idm intro.
First time I ever though, ‘dang samples are basically just like synths when treated correctly’ (an early misconception most electronic music producers might share), and first time I was like, damn, thats deep. I remember finishing this amidst a crappy summer school session at Blinn, and totally finding relief and escape and belonging in tracks like this.
