Title: Sideslipping
Artist: Noggin
Album: As Yet Unknown
Date: 2000

One of the most epic Noggin classics from the pinnacle of Buzz-dom.
It’s big ass trip-hop, some guitar, huge beats, the freshman movie sample syndrome, and somehow this mystical 10 minutes that kind of evaporate into the ether if you stay through the whole thing.

Title: And the Whole Face of the Earth Smiled
Artist: Noggin
Album: As Yet Unknown
Date: 2002

Every now and then, this inner cornball in me stands up and shouts loudly messages of love and sentimentality and corndogs and cheese.
This is one of those moments.
Kind of a killer beat, some glitchiness, tons of melody, glide synths, beat box samples (like from yer mouth, yo), all wrapped up in computer nerdom that is the tracker-tune.
This one’s all Buzz.

Title: Live from Stafford 20 December 2008
Artist: Bananahat
Album: Live from Bryan, TX
Date: 2008

When all three members of Bananahat happened to convene in Bryan, Texas around the Christmas of 08, good things happened. SkullF*cker had a show booked at Stafford, and along with Bryce Clayton Eiman, Bananahat was around to pull the electro-noise-house vibes out of the winter downtown air.
Technically, this was Bananahat plus, as we had two at-large members join us on stage in masks and stuff. There’s laptops, live vocals, a feedbacker modded-sp303, akai mpc, korg er-1, tuning forks, contact mics, more feedback loops, and most importantly the magic of the season and weariness of the road.
The actual performance was about 30 minutes, but the recordings got started a short ways into it. Major props to Houston for hitting that record button…I don’t know how I could ever remember much less describe Bananahat at their finest hour.
Chappy Chanukah to all yall.

Take note cause this is probably about as close as I’ll get to recording a Christmas track.
The other day while ripping the wonderful John Fahey Christmas record to computer, I started seeing what I could do with it using the mixer and a delayed (thanks soundcard latency!) version of the signal. These are the short snippets I managed to catch to tape, edited together audacity time-line style.
To clarify, these are live manipulations of the John Fahey record.
Merry Xmas.

Let this one just unfold on ya.
Snaps, beats, atmospherics, this is me revisiting my trip hop vein after a minor absence with the dabble into more psy-styles. Phil heard this and was immediately down to flow over it. Where you at homey? Drop them bars for me.

Title: Tension (full mix)
Artist: Noggin
Album: Tension
Date: 2008

Short mix (~40min) I put together in the Spring time in Cali.
Lots of experimental stuff going on here. It’s wholly DJDecks (R.I.P.!!!), though mixed externally with a Vestax VMC 185 XL (coming yer way Trypset). In my opinion, that mixer is the instrument that wants to be played, and the tracks are like the strings that you apply and tune to make the instrument sing what you need it to.
This thing runs the gamut from nu-folk to straight house to indie jams. I was pretty happy with it. The name and glitches come from my internal stasis that year.
Includes hits from, but not limited to:
Quench
DNTEL
Telepopmusik
Keiran Hebden and Steve Reid
Herbert
Bjork

Ambient track produced from a couple George Strait samples on the EPS. Damn, that is a deep keyboard. Not even software samplers come close to what it could do with built in functionality.
Recorded to cassette tape in the early summer of ’10 in Anacortes, WA.
Thanks again, Karl.

Had a lot of fun going into the TAMU recording studio with Ilya to lay this one down. I had made some drum beats and we brought those in, played em as backing tracks, then he jammed the wurly while I played the guitar. We had a great time.
A few months later, here was my remix.
I’ve got all the tracks + his version somewhere, but Ilya, if yer out there and you aint crashed em, hit me up with yer version!

From the ‘wreckage’ ep, which is just a few buzz bouncedowns from a couple volatile tracks that actually managed to open during some reinstall of buzz.
Its glitchy and its cute.
